As a part of the Era3 upgrade, Connect, a front-end widget that enables the use of Wormhole’s technology within any application that integrates it, has been updated to provide drastically improved functionality and user experience.
Existing integrators of Connect can now upgrade their widget to support the whole slew of new features, and if you’re a builder sitting on the fence, you’re able to integrate it extremely quickly and unlock cross-chain functionality for your users right within your dApp.
Check out the updated documentation (including the migration guide) here.
The headline feature, the Connect Upgrade now enables users to swap between any assets across any of the supported chains with more in the pipeline:
Previously, typical token transfers would take minutes to over 15 minutes due to performance of chains, as well as having to wait for finality to prevent reorganization risk. However, with intents-enabled Connect, the wait time is cut down to less than 15 seconds between EVM and EVM, and even EVM and Solana.
Furthermore, users are no longer limited to simply transferring an asset from one chain to another, and can instead choose any asset on any support chain on either the source or destination, enabling full freedom.
Connect, like Portal, now leverages SWIFT, Mayan’s contemporary intents transfer model to enable quick and seamless transactions.
Aside from enabling more powerful cross-chain asset transfers, the Connect Upgrade also contains a number of quality of life updates, massively improving the user experience.
Connect now automatically detects assets and networks upon simply making a wallet connection, foregoing the need to navigate through a complex menu to find exactly what you want to transfer or swap.
Furthermore, redemptions of cross-chain transfers or swaps are done completely automatically, without any input from a user required - drastically reducing the time needed to manage the transaction.
Another new feature is the presence of transaction history right within the widget, reducing the time and clicks need for yet another common user behavior, without needing to navigate away.
Teams who have already implemented Connect within their protocol can easily upgrade their implementation with our newly updated documentation, found here.
New potential integrators as well as regular users can read about the features, as well as implementation guide for Connect here.
