As a part of Wormhole’s Era3 upgrade, Portal, the primary token transfer app built on Wormhole, received a major user experience upgrade.
This Portal upgrade brings new transfer routes including intents-based transfers, native-to-native swaps, faster transactions from slower-finality chains like Ethereum, and a better overall user experience to the app.
The list of upgrades for Portal include:
You can now transfer supported assets between Solana, Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Avalanche and BNB chain in under 15 seconds. Transferring from Ethereum mainnet which previously took a minimum of 15 minutes due to the requirement of having to wait for finality, can now be completed in 15 seconds.
Additionally, users can also perform native-to-native cross-chain swaps. This enables users to transfer and swap assets in one click without receiving wrapped assets all in Portal’s frontend.
Portal now leverages SWIFT, Mayan’s contemporary intents transfer model to enable quick and seamless transactions.
Auto-detect network and assets from wallet: The upgrade to auto-detect networks and assets from wallets on Portal streamlines the token transfer process. By automatically identifying the appropriate network and available assets, it reduces manual input errors, eliminates guesswork, and speeds up transactions.
Streamlined UI Flow: The cross-chain transfer and swap flow is now simpler than ever. Users no longer have to decide how they’re going to redeem transactions and simply select their desired supported chains and assets.
Additionally, scrolling through the extensive list of Wormhole supported chains and assets can be a daunting task. The upgrade has made it especially easy for users looking to leverage Circle’s CCTP to transfer USDC, transfer Threshold’s tBTC between supported chains or transfer between the Cosmos chains by offering separate menu options for these specific products.
Transaction History: After connecting your wallet, you’ll be able to toggle the drop menu which will populate the “Transactions” option in the menu bar. Selecting this option will take you to Wormholescan where you’ll be able to view your transaction history of any Wormhole powered asset transfers of that particular wallet.
Automatic Redemptions: With automatic redemptions, users can send any token to any address in the destination without having to manually redeem it or connect a wallet on the destination chain. This feature gives users more autonomy in how they operate when using Portal.
The Era3 upgrade is the most significant overhaul of Portal’s feature set to date but it’s not over yet. Wormhole and its core contributors are committed to improving the product stack built on top of the Wormhole protocol so stay tuned for more news and updates in the near future.
