INTRODUCING NATIVE USDT TRANSFERS POWERED BY Wormhole

Introducing native USDT transfers for Ethereum, Arbitrum , Base , Optimism, Polygon, BNB Chain, Celo, and Avalanche. These transfers are powered by Wormhole and leverage the battle-tested DEX infrastructure of PancakeSwap and Uniswap v3.

Native USDT transfers

This new system leverages Wormhole’s cross-chain functionality combined with the concentrated liquidity pools of PancakeSwap and Uniswap v3, providing the following:

• Transfer USDT at the most competitive fee price on the market.
• Transfers without gas on destination chain: Enables the movement of USDT between chains without requiring assets on the destination chain.
• User-Friendly Approach: Simplifies the transfer process to a single function call through the Portal app.

ARCHITECTURE

Each chain will have one xUSDT/USDT pool, which is used to trade between xUSDT (Wormhole USDT) and wrapped (local) USDT. Since the pool is a standard Uniswap v3 / PancakeSwap pool, all LPs are welcome and may choose exactly how they want to provide liquidity. We expect most liquidity to be concentrated near the middle, but some LPs may choose to charge a higher fee and others a lower fee.

HOW IT WORKS

In a detailed example of a transfer of USDT from Optimism to Base, USDT is swapped to Wormhole xUSDT on Uniswap (Optimism), the xUSDT is transferred to Base, and then swapped to Base-native USDT on Uniswap (Base), all with minimal fees. The user began with native USDT on Optimism and ended with native USDT on Base all with high speed and extremely low fees.

WHERE NATIVE USDT TRANSFERS ARE AVAILABLE

Native-to-native USDT transfers are now available across Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Polygon, BNB Chain, Celo, and Avalanche. PancakeSwap pools are live on Arbitrum, Base, and BNB Chain, while Uniswap pools are live on Optimism, Polygon, Celo, and Avalanche.
