RLUSD Is Now Multichain — Connected by Wormhole
June 4, 2026
Ripple's RLUSD is now accessible across multiple blockchain ecosystems, powered by Wormhole's Native Token Transfers (NTT) standard. This marks a significant step forward for institutional-grade stablecoins — and for the multichain future of digital finance.
What This Means
RLUSD is a US dollar-backed stablecoin issued by Standard Custody and Trust Company, LLC, a wholly-owned Ripple subsidiary regulated as a limited purpose trust company by the New York State Department of Financial Services. Built for institutions and payment providers, RLUSD is designed to meet the highest market standards — with monthly reserve attestations by an independent US-licensed CPA and a deep commitment to transparency. Until now, RLUSD has been issued natively on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum. Today, that reach expands significantly.
Why Wormhole's NTT Standard
Not all multichain solutions are created equal. Many approaches to moving assets across chains introduce wrapping, fragmentation, or loss of issuer control — none of which are acceptable for an institutional-grade asset like RLUSD. Wormhole's NTT (Native Token Transfers) standard was built specifically to solve this. NTT allows assets to exist and move across chains while preserving native issuance, maintaining issuer control, and avoiding liquidity fragmentation. It's already used by 100+ assets across 40+ chains, backed by Wormhole's infrastructure that has facilitated more than $70 billion in cumulative cross-chain volume. For Ripple, this means RLUSD can now reach new ecosystems without compromising on the compliance and security standards that define it.
Built for How Institutions Actually Operate
The multichain expansion of RLUSD isn't just a technical milestone — it's a direct response to how institutional finance is evolving. Enterprises, payment providers, and financial institutions need digital assets that work across networks, not ones locked to a single chain. With Wormhole's interoperability layer, RLUSD can now support use cases across payments, on/off ramps, and tokenization — wherever those activities happen across the multichain ecosystem — with configurable security controls and explicit risk parameters designed for institutional requirements.

What's Next
This integration represents the foundation of a broader vision: a multichain financial system where compliant, institutional-grade assets move freely and securely across any network. Ripple and Wormhole are committed to expanding RLUSD's accessibility as the ecosystem continues to grow. Developers and institutions looking to build with RLUSD across chains can get started today.
Availability dependent on jurisdiction.
